About me

I’m Dr. Jinny Hong, a Registered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist licensed in Ontario and British Columbia. I provide virtual therapy and psychological assessment services for adults seeking support with anxiety, trauma, OCD, depression, ADHD, burnout, emotional regulation, and relationship or life stressors.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, high-functioning individuals who feel overwhelmed internally despite appearing “fine” to others. They often struggle with chronic anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional exhaustion, or patterns that feel difficult to shift on their own.

As a first-generation Korean-Canadian psychologist, I also provide culturally sensitive therapy for individuals navigating bicultural identity, family expectations, and intergenerational dynamics.

My Approach

My clinical approach is grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), while integrating insight-oriented and skills-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs.

I focus on both present-day patterns and the deeper emotional experiences that may be contributing to distress. Together, we work to better understand what you’re experiencing, what may be maintaining these difficulties, and what can help you feel more grounded, regulated, and effective in your daily life.

I aim to create a space that feels both supportive and practical — where you can speak openly, build insight, and move toward meaningful change at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.

Training & Background

I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at McGill University and pursued graduate training in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto.

My clinical training includes work across hospital, university, and private practice settings, including CAMH, North York General Hospital, Brampton Civic Hospital, and the University of Toronto Counselling Centre.

My work is also informed by research in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for depression, with presentations at national and international conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
